Al-Sadd clinched the Doha Derby with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Al-Arabi, in the QNB Stars League Round 17 clash which was played at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium on Monday evening.

Sebastian Soria scored in the tenth minute to give Al-Arabi an early lead, and it took until the 66th minute for Al-Sadd’s equaliser to arrive through Rodrigo Tabata. Youssef Msakni then restored Al-Arabi’s advantage in the 77th minute, before Al-Sadd staged a late comeback through goals from Baghdad Bounedjah and Santi Cazorla in the 90th and 92nd minutes respectively. ... 

Al-Sadd concluded their preparations for the upcoming QNB Stars League Round 17 game against Al-Arabi with the final training session which was held on Sunday evening at the club’s training facility. The match is set to kick off at 7:15 PM on Monday at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium.

The coaching staff, led by Xavi Hernandez, selected a 23-member squad for the game, which is as follows: Saad Al-Dosari, Meshaal Barshim, Jehad Muhammad, Jung Woo-young, Ahmed Sayyar, Abdelkarim Hassan, Pedro Miguel, Hassan Al-Haydos, Nam Tae-hee, Muhammad Waad, Khoukhi Boualem, Guilherme Torres, Rodrigo Tabata, Baghdad Bounedjah, Salem Al-Hajri, Santi Cazorla, Tarek Salman, Yousuf Abdurisag, Hussam Kamal, Musab Khidir, Ahmed Suhail, Bahaa Al-Laithi, Hashim Ali ... 

Al-Sadd’s South Korean midfielder Nam Tae-hee spoke of his team’s readiness for the upcoming clash against Al-Arabi in Round 17 of the QNB Stars League.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Nam said: “Against Al-Arabi, it’s going to be a difficult game, as always, but we are very very close to winning the league. We want to win this game and we want to win the league.” ... 

Al-Sadd head coach Xavi Hernandez has stressed on the difficulty of his side’s upcoming game against Al-Arabi in Round 17 of the QNB Stars League.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Xavi said: “The next game is against Al Arabi and we expect it will be difficult . Everybody can remember we suffered in the final of the Amir Cup because they were defending very well. They didn’t concede too many goals in the recent period. They improved a lot with two foreigner players as centre backs – Muniesa and Azzi, both good players.” ... 

The Al-Sadd first team players resumed their training at 6 PM on Friday, after the important 1-0 victory over Al Rayyan in the semi-final of the Qatar Cup.

The Wolves are now preparing to face Al-Arabi next Monday, in the seventeenth week of the QNB Stars League, at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium. Al-Sadd are currently on top of the league table with 44 points. ... 

Al-Sadd head coach Xavi Hernandez expressed his happiness after his side’s 1-0 victory Al-Rayyan in the semi-final of the 2021 Qatar Cup.

Speaking during the press conference after the match, Xavi said: “It was a very difficult match against Al Rayyan who were strong, both physically and defensively. Al Rayyan has many excellent players, and we did not play as well as we usually do but we achieved our goal, which is to be in the final.” ... 

Al-Sadd’s Akram Afif stressed on the difficulty of his side’s 1-0 victory over Al-Rayyan, which took them to the final of the 2021 Qatar Cup.

Speaking after the match, Afif said: “The match was difficult, and this is the case with cup matches. Only one team qualifies and we did what was required to reach the final.” ... 

Al-Sadd reached the final of the 2021 Qatar Cup after defeating Al-Rayyan 1-0 in the semifinal clash which was held on Thursday at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium.

Santi Cazorla scored the winning goal for the Wolves, converting a penalty in the 84th minute. The result means that Al-Sadd, the defending champions, progress to the title decider against the winner of the other semifinal between Al-Duhail and Al-Gharafa. ... 

Al-Sadd striker Baghdad Bounedjah stressed on the readiness of his side ahead of the upcoming game against Al-Rayyan in the 2021 Qatar Cup semi-final.

Speaking during the pre-match press conference, Bounedjah said: “Al-Rayyan is a good team and we will be high focused to win this game. Everyone will place Al-Sadd as favourites, but the cup matches are different. In the 2020 Amir Cup final, everyone expected Al-Sadd to win by a great score, but Al-Arabi was a strong rival and therefore we must be careful and present our best against Al-Rayyan in order to win and advance to the final.” ... 

Al-Sadd head coach Xavi Hernandez described his side’s next match against Al Rayyan, in the semi-finals of the 2021 Qatar Cup, as an “early final”.

Speaking during the pre-match press conference, Xavi said: “We in Al Sadd want to win this cup, which is a completely different tournament from the league.
