Javi Gracia: We know the importance of the Amir Cup, we will face Muaither with complete focus

Al Sadd coach Javi Gracia addressed the media ahead of the upcoming game against Muaither in the Amir Cup 2022 Round of 16 fixture, which is to be played on Sunday evening at Grand Hamad Stadium.

Speaking during the match press conference, Gracia said: “We know the importance of the Amir Cup, and we know that we have to continue playing with the same winning mentality, especially since this match is not like the league matches and we have to focus more.”

“Our goal is to reach the final and to win the title, and this is only possible if we win every match.”

He added: “We have a philosophy in Al Sadd: we play every match to win. We are well aware of the importance of the Muaither match, and the ambition of all the clubs in this important, or rather the most important, tournament in Qatari football. Therefore we will enter this game with the same mentality.”

The Spanish coach stressed the importance of the Amir Cup and said that he knows very well that it is a big tournament, which culminates with a grand finale.

“So, in addition to our desire to win, we also want to be present in the final match because of its great importance in Qatari football.”

Gracia added: “For me, it is a very important tournament and we will go into this competition to defend the title. We have to put forward all the players who are ready, as there is no room for experimenting in this important tournament.”

On the role of young players in Al Sadd’s squad, the coach said: “I am happy to see this group of emerging players in Al Sadd, and we have to invest in these players and my advice to them is to be patient and work continuously because they are the future of the club.”

Asked about the youngster Moustafa Tarek, the coach had this to say: “Moustafa is a good player. He strives with everything he has to work within the group, helps others and receives help as well. Like his young colleagues, he can develop and improve his level, and he is a promising talent.”
