Al Sadd suffered their first defeat in the 2022-23 Ooredoo Cup on Saturday, with a 3-2 loss to Umm Salal in the Group A third round game, which was played at the Al Egla 4 Pitch.
With this result, Al-Sadd remain with a tally of six points, from two victories and a defeat.
Hassan Ahmed opened the scoring early on, putting Al-Sadd in the lead in the 3rd minute. Umm Salal ended the first half on level terms after Sardor Rashidov equalised a few minutes before the halftime whistle.
Santi Cazorla then restored Al-Sadd’s advantage in the 50th minute, following up after Tabata’s initial shot came back. Umm Salal equalised once again through Joao Teixeira in the 58th minute from a penalty kick, before Ilyas Brimil scored their third goal in the 69th minute.
