In the QNB Stars League Round 19 match held at Suhaim bin Hamad Stadium on Saturday, the Al-Sadd first team recorded a deserved 2-0 victory against Qatar SC.
The goals were scored by Akram Afif in the 67th minute and Ahmed Al-Saeed in the 91st minute. As a result of this win, Al-Sadd raised its points tally to 38 and remained in third place in the standings table.
The match started with both teams being cautious and uneventful, with no real danger until the first ten minutes had passed. In the 15th minute, Al-Sadd’s Ayoub El-Kaabi almost scored the first goal, but Qatar defender Ibrahim Majed managed to save it from going in. The rest of the first half continued with a goalless draw.
In the second half, Al-Sadd increased the pressure on Qatar SC’s defense, with Akram Afif firing a powerful shot in the 55th minute that was saved twice by Qatar goalkeeper Satea Al-Abbasi.
Al-Sadd’s persistence paid off in the 67th minute when Afif scored a beautiful goal that landed in the far left corner of Qatar’s goal.
Towards the end of the game, in extra time, substitute Ahmed Al-Saeed scored the second goal, after being set up by Afif, and the referee went on to blow the full time whistle, ending the match with Al-Sadd winning 2-0.
