Al-Sadd’s newly signed Italian defender Alessio Romagnoli expressed his happiness at joining the club for the upcoming period.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Romagnoli said: “I was very excited to come here and happy about it, especially since we had been discussing this move for several months and there was a possibility of joining Al Sadd. Therefore, my first impression was very positive. The city is very beautiful, the club is serious and strong, and I am glad to be here.”
He continued: “I actually wanted to join Al Sadd back in January, but there were some issues with my previous club, so we had to delay the step. In the end, though, I think it was worth the wait.”
Romagnoli noted that it was a very nice experience because they remained in constant contact over six or seven months, adding: “I was in full contact with Al Sadd through calls and messages. In the end, we all wanted to achieve the exact outcome we were hoping for. I wanted to come here, and Al Sadd wanted to sign me.”
He added: “We are happy now, and it is time for me to prove on the pitch what I can deliver for this club.”
Romagnoli concluded: “Hello to the Al Sadd fans, I am happy to be here. I hope it will be a fantastic season, and I look forward to seeing you at the stadium.”
