Al Sadd head coach Sergio Alegre spoke about the importance of the upcoming match against Umm Salal, as part of Week 7 of the 2025–2026 Doha Bank Stars League season.
Alegre said during the pre-match press conference:
“The game against Umm Salal will definitely be difficult. They have performed well in all their matches so far, except the last one against Al Shamal. But they have experienced players and a seasoned coach.
We know they’re not in their best moment right now, but we’re sure it will be a very tough game. We have to give 100% of our effort to win these three points.”
The Spanish coach expressed his satisfaction with his team’s performance against Al Ahli Saudi in the AFC Champions League Elite, saying:
“We needed to do a bit more because we played a great game but couldn’t even get a draw. So we have to keep going like this and maintain this level — this is the right way.
We can’t blame the players because they gave everything, but we must give that little bit extra to win matches and keep fighting until the end of the season to stay as close as possible to the top of the table.”
For his part, Hashim Ali emphasized the importance of good preparation for the Umm Salal match, saying:
“The next game is very important for us, and getting three points means a lot. From now on, all the remaining league games are crucial — we need to win every one of them.
We’re ready for Umm Salal. You saw in the last match against Al Ahli that we played very well, but the only thing missing was the win. We are fully prepared for Umm Salal, and our focus is on getting those three points.”
