Felix Sanchez: We didn’t start the way we wanted and conceded avoidable goals

Al-Sadd head coach Felix Sanchez expressed his deep sadness following his team’s 2-3 defeat to Japan’s Kawasaki Frontale and their exit from the AFC Champions League Elite 2024-2025 at the quarterfinal stage.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Sanchez said: “Congratulations to Kawasaki for the victory. We didn’t start the way we wanted and didn’t feel comfortable. We conceded goals that we could have at least avoided one of. I believe we tried, but the task wasn’t easy.” ...

Al-Sadd suffered a 2-3 defeat against Japan’s Kawasaki Frontale in their AFC Champions League Elite 2024-2025 quarterfinal match, which was played at Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Sunday, April 27, 2025.

Felix Sanchez, head coach of Al-Sadd, confirmed his team’s readiness to face Japan’s Kawasaki Frontale in the quarterfinals of the AFC Champions League Elite 2024-2025.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Sanchez said: “We are among the top eight clubs in Asia. We have arrived in Saudi Arabia and are preparing to face Kawasaki. Tarek Salman: We got an impressive win over Al-Ahli

Al-Sadd defender Tarek Salman has described the 3-0 victory over Al-Ahli and qualification to the final of the 2025 Qatar Cup as impressive.

Speaking after the match, Tarek said: “Thank God for the win and for reaching the final of the 2025 Qatar Cup.”

Tarek, who scored the second goal, pointed out that the victory was the result of great effort from both the players and coaching staff. He added: “We achieved an impressive win over Al-Ahli that secured our place in the final to compete for another title.” ... 

Al-Sadd defeat Al-Ahli to reach Qatar Cup final

Al-Sadd advanced to the final of the 2025 Qatar Cup after defeating Al-Ahli 3-0 in their semifinal clash held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium.

Al-Sadd’s goals came through an own goal by defender Matej Mitrovic in the 30th minute, followed by Tarek Salman in the 76th minute, and Rafa Mujica in the 82nd. The Wolves now await the winner of the other semifinal between Al-Duhail and Al-Gharafa, which will be played on Wednesday. ...
