Al-Sadd head coach Xavi Hernandez spoke of his side’s readiness ahead of the QNB Stars League Round 2 game against Al-Sailiya, which is set to be played on Monday at the Education City Stadium.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Xavi said: “We have a big game coming up against Al Sailiya, they’re great opponents and they have new players like Thiago and Mohanad Ali up front. We know (Sami) Trabelsi very well, he is a big coach here in Qatar and he’s been doing very well in the last few years. So it will be very tough, very difficult.” ... 

Tarek Salman emphasised the importance of Al-Sadd’s 5-1 victory over Al-Kharaitiyat in Round 1 of the QNB Stars League, and praised the team’s performance.

In his remarks after the match, Tarek said: “We conceded one goal in the match from an error, but we managed to win the first three points. This is an important victory which will motivate us in the upcoming games and we are happy to be the first team to play at the Education City Stadium.” ...

Al-Sadd opened their 2020-21 QNB Stars League campaign with a 5-1 win over Al-Kharaitiyat, in the Round 1 game that was played at the Education City Stadium.

Santi Cazorla’s 27th minute strike gave the Wolves a 1-0 lead at halftime, and Baghdad Bounedjah doubled the advantage in the 54th minute. Cazorla then added a third goal in the 60th minute, before Rachid Tiberkanine pulled one back for Al-Kharaitiyat four minutes later. In the 71st minute, Al-Sadd made it 4-1 from a Mohammad Salam own goal. Akram Afif then came off the bench to complete the scoring in the 85th minute. ... 

The Al-Sadd first team squad wrapped up their preparations for the opening game of the 2020-21 QNB Stars League campaign against Al-Kharaitiyat, with a final training session on Wednesday evening at the club’s training centre. The match is set to kick off at 6:15 PM at the Education City Stadium on Thursday. ... 

The Al-Sadd first team players and management attended a workshop presented by referees Abdulrahman Al Jassim and Saoud Ahmed at the club’s training centre on Wednesday.

During the workshop, Abdulrahman Al Jassim explained recent rule changes made by FIFA, especially those involving collisions, and the ones related to goalkeeping. ... 

Al-Sadd attacker Yousuf Abdurisag spoke of his happiness at returning to the club after the end of his loan spell, and also expressed his desire to help the team in the new season.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference ahead of the opening QNB Stars League clash against Al-Kharaitiyat, Yousuf said: “I am happy to return to the team. I benefited a lot from my time on loan (at Al-Arabi) and I think I am ready to help the team (now).” ...

Akram was named as the Best Player, in addition to sharing the Top Scorer award with Yacine Brahimi of Al-Rayyan for leading the charts with 15 goals last season. Tarek won the Best U-23 Player award. ...
