Al Sadd coach Xavi Hernandez expressed his happiness with his side’s huge 5-0 win over Al-Gharafa, which saw them qualify for the semi-finals of the Amir Cup.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Xavi said: “It is not easy to win by five goals over a team like Al Gharafa. Weplayed a more than wonderful match. We are going through good moments and the team is performing very well and this is what makes me feel proud.”
The coach added: “This is a deserved victory and I’m very proud of the team and proud to be the coach of these players and for this club. I did not expect to win by five goals. Al Gharafa is a good team and we won because we played well and we were the best.”
Xavi continued: “We defeated Muaither in the Round of 16, then Al Gharafa, and qualified for the semi-finals. We will wait for whom we will face in the semi-finals, we will continue our work constantly and prepare for what is coming.”
Regarding who he would prefer to face in the semi-finals, the coach said: “Both teams are good. We will wait for who our opponent will be and we are ready to face any team, and we will do all we can to continue winning.”
As for the good results achieved by the team this season which has seen them compete for all titles, Xavi said: “Al Sadd have shown an excellent level and with their mentality, the players succeeded in dealing with the various tournaments. As I spoke previously, our goal is to win all the championships, we exited the Champions League last season, but we did not stop. We continued to work and compete for all the tournaments this season and we will prepare well for the next Champions League.”
