Al-Sadd head coach Xavi Hernandez spoke of his happiness after his side defeated Al-Rayyan 4-2 in the QNB Stars League Round 3 game on Wednesday.
Speaking to the club website after the game, Xavi said: “I am happy with the win. We got three important points for our campaign to defend the league title. The win came over a strong opponent like Al-Rayyan.”
He added: “We suffered a lot after we scored the third goal. We allowed Al-Rayyan to come back and score two goals. But we had a strong reaction after Al-Rayyan’s second goal, and we managed to score our fourth goal and clinch the game. We could have scored more.”
As for the fans, the coach said: “The Al-Sadd fans are always there to support us and they had a great role to play in the today’s victory. I am happy with the fans and happy to get 9 points from three successive wins.”
Asked about the upcomning Amir Cup clash with Al-Rayyan, Xavi indicated that the circumstances would be different in that game, saying: “The Amir Cup final will be completely different from today’s match. We have many absentees and we await their return. Al-Rayyan also have signed new foreigner players and so the situation will be different.”
