Xavi: We respect Al-Shamal, we will suffer if we consider the game easy

Al-Sadd head coach Xavi Hernandez spoke of his side’s desire to continue winning, as they prepare for the upcoming QNB Stars League Round 4 game against Al-Shamal.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Xavi said: “We are ready to continue winning and we want to keep playing like this. We just need to play in every game like we did in the first 35 minutes against Al Rayyan.”

“This is the target for us and of course, we are happy to win the Clasico.”

As for the next opponents, the coach said: “Al Shamal is a surprise for me because they play really well. I was watching their game against Qatar Club and they played really well. They have a good team and in my opinion their coach Hisham is working really well. He is brave and wants to play by building up attacks from the back.”

He added: “It’s a good team and we will suffer if we think it’s easy to win the game. We respect them a lot. I respect the coach. It means a lot that they defeated Qatar SC.”

The coach also indicated that he will use many players in the absence of several first team regulars, saying: “I’m trying to use all the players and of course we are missing many players – Santi Cazorla, Khoukhi Boualem, Saad Al Dosari and Abdelkarim Hassan. They are very important but thank God we have a big squad to choose from.”

“I’m trying to rotate between the players because the calendar is really difficult. In the next game, for sure some new players will play from the beginning.”
