Xavi: We will play to win against Al-Wehdat, Group D is still open

Al-Sadd head coach Xavi Hernandez addressed the media ahead of tomorrow’s match against Al-Wehdat team on Matchday 3 of the AFC Champions League, and spoke about the difficulty of the clash.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Xavi said: “It is an important and difficult match for us against Al Wehdat. We have a chance to win and get three points, but it will not be easy against a team that is strong in defence and have good physical abilities. We will come into the match with all our strength in order to achieve victory.”

The coach added: “We didn’t play badly in the first two matches, but we were not perfect, and the results were not in our favour. We must play better and attack more. There must also be a balance between defence and attack, and we need to focus more and more. We need to improve to win this difficult game.”

As for the opponents, Xavi said: “Al-Wehdat has a strong and organized defense, and we have to focus on them more. We will face them in two consecutive matches. They compete well, and therefore we must be fully ready.”

Regarding Al-Sadd’s chances in Group D, the coach indicated that the group is still open, saying: “I cannot see the future. We play to win and our goal is to finish at the top of the group. All the four teams have the same chances to qualify. All our focus now is on tomorrow’s game.”
