The Al-Sadd first team suffered a 1-3 defeat against Azerbaijan’s Sabah FC in their second friendly match during the overseas training camp in Austria, as part of their preparations for the upcoming 2023-2024 season.
Sabah FC took an early lead with two goals before Al-Sadd’s Giovanni Henrique wasted a chance for a goal by missing a penalty kick. The first half thus ended with Sabah FC in a 2-0 lead.
In the second half, Akram Afif narrowed the gap by scoring from a penalty kick for Al-Sadd. However, Sabah FC sealed their victory with a third goal.
Al-Sadd started the game with a lineup consisting of Saad Al-Dosari, Abdulrahman Rashed, Abdulrahman Bakri, Pedro Miguel, Paulo Otavio, Ahmed Sayyar, Guilherme Torres, Ahmed Al-Saeed, Hassan Al-Haydos, Akram Afif, and Giovani Henrique.
During the second half, Youssef Al-Balushi, Anas Abdul Salam, Yamaan Jarrar, Talal Atiq, Moaz Al-Wadia, new signing Mateus Uribe, and Abdullah Al-Yazidi came on as substitutes.
