Amir Cup: Al-Sadd reach semifinals after 4-0 win over Al-Ahli

Al-Sadd qualified for the semifinals of the Amir Cup 2022 after a 4-0 victory over Al-Ahli, in the quarterfinal clash which was played at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium on Saturday.

Abdelkarim Hassan, Andre Ayew, Rodrigo Tabata and Akram Afif scored the goals for the Wolves, who will now meet the winner of the game between Al-Duhail and Al-Sailiya in the final four of the competition.

Javi Gracia’s side got off to a superb start when Abdelkarim Hassan headed in the opening goal in the 3rd minute, after a cross from the right by Santi Cazorla.

Just three minutes later, Andre Ayew doubled the lead with another header, this time off a cross by Akram Afif.

The 2-0 lead put Al-Sadd in the driving seat but despite their efforts to increase the lead, no further goals materialised in the first half, as Al-Ahli regrouped and put up a strong defensive show.

The same tune continued in the second half, until Rodrigo Tabata managed to finally break the resistance and score Al-Sadd’s third in the 75th minute, after a pass from the right by Cazorla.

Akram made it 4-0 in the 78th minute, with a fine curling shot from the edge of the box which flew in past the keeper Ivanildo.
