Al-Sadd return to winning ways with 3-1 triumph over Qatar

Al-Sadd emerged victorious with a 3-1 scoreline against Qatar SC in their fourth-round clash of the 2023/2024 Expo Stars League season, which was held on Saturday at the Khalifa International Stadium.

With this win, Al-Sadd have increased their tally to 10 points in the league standings, after securing three wins and a draw. Al-Sadd’s goals came from Gonzalo Plata in the 16th minute, Akram Afif in the 64th minute from a penalty kick, and Paulo Otavio in the 80th minute. The Al-Sadd first team concluded its training today, Friday, in preparation for the match against Qatar SC, in the fourth week of the Expo Stars League, which will kick off at 8:00 PM on Saturday at Khalifa International Stadium.

The Wolves enter the match in fourth place with 7 points from two wins and a draw, and the team aims to return to victory and secure three points to continue competing for the top spot. ... 

Abdulla Al-Yazidi: We will play for the win against Qatar, we have the morale to do it

Al-Sadd’s Abdullah Al-Yazidi described the challenge of facing Qatar SC in the fourth week of the Expo Stars League as ‘tough’, while reiterating that the team is focused on getting back to winning ways.

During the press conference, Al-Yazidi stated: “Certainly, the match against Qatar will be extremely tough. At Al-Sadd, we have a high level of focus and confidence, with the aim of returning to winning ways after our recent draw against Al-Wakrah in the league.” ...

Al-Sadd head coach Bruno Miguel has emphasised the difficulty of the upcoming clash against Qatar SC, in Round 4 of the Expo Stars League.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, he said: “The upcoming game against Qatar SC is going to be tough because they play differently. Each opponent has its own style of play, and we need to understand these styles. We also have to support our key players, to progress as a team, and score goals. Our main challenge is to keep a clean sheet while trying to score ourselves.” ...

Hassan Al-Haydos, the captain of Al-Sadd, emphasized that luck was not on their side in the match against Sharjah in the first round of the AFC Champions League group stage.

Al-Haydos stated in his remarks after the match, “We entered the match with the goal of winning and securing the three points, but we didn’t succeed. Luck was not with us in taking advantage of the opportunities presented to us and converting them into goals.” ...

Al-Sadd head coach Bruno Miguel expressed his disappointment with his side’s goalless draw against Sharjah from the United Arab Emirates in their opening game of the AFC Champions League group stage.

During the post-match press conference, the coach stated, “We played well, and we were the better team throughout the match. We created many chances but couldn’t find the back of the net. We also missed a penalty that could have helped us secure the three points.” ... 

AFC Champions League: Al-Sadd draw 0-0 with Sharjah

Al-Sadd played out a goalless draw against the UAE’s Sharjah in the opening match of Group B of the 2023-2024 AFC Champions League. The match was played at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium on Monday evening.

The match coordination meeting for the 2023-24 AFC Champions League group stage clash between Al-Sadd and Sharjah took place on Sunday morning, at Al-Sadd club headquarters. The Group B first round fixture is set to be played on Monday at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium.
