Al-Sadd resume training amid absence of 21 players

The Al-Sadd first team resumed training on Tuesday, after a period of rest which followed the last QNB Stars League game against Al Wakrah.

The league is currently suspended until the end of our national team’s matches in March, in the European qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup.

Al-Sadd trained on Tuesday without 21 players, with 12 internationals who are currently away with the senior Qatar national team (Saad Al-Dosari, Meshaal Barsham, Pedro Miguel, Musab Khidir, Tarek Salman, Abdelkarim Hassan, Khoukhi Boualem, Yousuf Abdurisag, Muhammad Waad, Hassan Al-Haydos, Ahmed Suhail, Salem Al-Hajri), in addition to 6 players in the Qatar U-23 team, who are playing two friendly matches against Kosovo on March 26 and 29, in preparation for the AFC U-23 Asian Cup qualifiers to be held next October (Bahaa Al-Laithi, Hashem Abdullatif, Mustafa Meshaal, Yousuf Al-Balushi, Faisal Azadi, Muhammad Mannai). Algerian striker Baghdad Bounedjah has also travelled abroad, in order to join his national team in preparation for the qualifiers for the 2022 African Nations Cup in Cameroon. ... 

Xavi: Proud of the players’ performance

Al-Sadd coach Xavi Hernandez expressed his satisfaction with his team’s performance against Al-Wakrah in the match that ended in a 1-1 draw in Round 19 of the QNB Stars League.

In his statements to the club’s website after the match, Xavi said: “I am proud of what the players showed in front of an excellent and organized team, it was a difficult match and we came out with a result that was not bad even though we entered the match in order to win.” ... 

QNB Stars League: Al-Sadd draw 1-1 with Al-Wakrah

Al Sadd had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Al Wakrah, in the QNB Stars League Round 19 clash that was played on Thursday at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium.

With this result, the Wolves took their points tally to 51. Rodrigo Tabata scored the opening goal in the 25th minute before Khaled Muneer equalised for Al Wakrah in the 84th minute. ... 

Al-Sadd conclude preparations for Al-Wakrah clash

The Al-Sadd first team concluded its training on Wednesday, in preparation for the upcoming clash with Al Wakrah in Week 19 of the QNB Stars League. The game is set to be played on Thursday evening at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium.

The Wolves go into the game having offically secured the league title, after taking their points tally to 50 and establishing an unassailable 13-point lead, with 4 matches remaining until the end of the competition. ... 

Xavi: We cannot relax against Al-Wakrah, we will rotate some players

Al-Sadd head coach Xavi Hernandez spoke of the readiness of his side ahead of the next game against Al-Wakrah, in Week 19 of the QNB Stars League. The match will be played on Thursday evening at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Xavi said: “It’s an important match ahead of us after we won the league title. Our main goal has been achieved in the tournament, but we still have 4 matches left.” ... 

Xavi: We created new history for Al-Sadd

Al-Sadd head coach Xavi Hernandez expressed his happiness after winning the 2020-21 QNB Stars League title, following the 3-0 win over Umm Salal in Round 18.

Speaking to the club’s website, Xavi said: “We created a new history for Al Sadd. I am happy to win the league title for the first time as a coach with Al-Sadd, after winning it as a player.” ... 

Al-Sadd crowned champions of QNB Stars League 2020-21

Al-Sadd were crowned champions of the 2020-21 edition of the QNB Stars League, after defeating Umm Salal 3-0 in the Round 18 game which was played on Sunday at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium.

The team celebrated with the staff and fans after the victory, which saw them clinch the title with four games to go. ...

Al-Sadd clinched the QNB Stars League title after a 3-0 win over Umm Salal in the Round 18 game which was played at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium on Sunday.

The result saw the Wolves establish an unassailable 13-point lead over closest rivals Al-Duhail, with four games to go.

Baghdad Bounedjah scored the opening goal for Al-Sadd in the 34th minute, and Yousuf Abdurisag doubled the advantage in the 51st minute. Rodrigo Tabata then came off the bench to net the third and final goal in stoppage time. ...
