Xavi: Happy to qualify for the Round of 16, we’re prepared to face any team

Al-Sadd head coach Xavi Hernandez spoke of his happiness at his side’s qualification for the Round of 16 the 2020 AFC Champions League, and added that they were ready to face any team.

Addressing the media at the press conference ahead of Al-Sadd’s final group game against Sepahan, Xavi said: “We are happy to qualify for the Round of 16. We want to finish well in the group stage, by winning this game. ... 

Tarek Salman: We committed many mistakes against Al-Nassr, one point is better than none

Al-Sadd defender Tarek Salman remarked that a point was better than none, after his side drew 1-1 with Al-Nassr on Matchday 5 of the AFC Champions League group stage.

Speaking after the game, Tarek said: “Our goal was to win and top the group. In the first half, we were very bad. There were many mistakes, and we have to correct our situation. We were better in the second half and created many chances until we were able to score the equaliser. A point is better than none.” ... 

Xavi: Happy with the point, we showed two faces during the two halves

Al-Sadd head coach Xavi Hernandez spoke of his satisfaction with the point his team gained from the 1-1 draw against Al-Nassr on Matchday 5 of the AFC Champions League group stage, adding that the team displayed “two faces during the two halves” of the game.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Xavi said: “It was a tough game. We were not good enough in the first half, and in the second half we were better.” ... 

AFC Champions League: Al-Sadd draw 1-1 with Al-Nassr on Matchday 5

A late goal from Baghdad Bounedjah gave Al-Sadd a 1-1 draw with Group D opponents Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia, in their AFC Champions League Matchday 5 clash which was played at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium on Monday evening.

Khalid Al-Ghannam had put Al-Nassr ahead in the 22nd minute, before Bounedjah equalised for Al-Sadd in the 87th minute. The result sees Al-Sadd remain in second place in Group D with 9 points, behind Al-Nassr who have 11 points. ... 

AFC Champions League: Al-Sadd conclude preparations for Al-Nassr clash

Al-Sadd wrapped up preparations for the upcoming AFC Champions League group stage clash against Al-Nassr, with a final training session on Sunday evening. The Matchday 5 fixture will be played at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium on Monday, and will kick off at 6 PM.

The Wolves go into the game sitting in second place in Group D with 8 points from 2 wins and 2 draws, while Al-Nassr are first with 10 points, from 3 wins and a draw. The first leg of the tie was played in Riyadh in February, and ended in a 2-2 stalemate. ... 

Nam Tae-hee: We must be fully prepared to face Al-Nassr

Al-Sadd’s South Korean midfielder Nam Tae-hee stressed on the importance of being fully prepared, ahead of the upcoming game against Saudi side Al-Nassr, on Matchday 5 of the AFC Champions League group stage.

Speaking during the pre-match press conference, Nam said: “We will face a strong team. Al-Nassr is better than last season and therefore we have to be more than 100% ready. If we play with the same quality as in the previous match against Al Ain, we will be able to get the win and the three points.” ...

Al-Sadd head coach Xavi Hernandez has emphasised the difficulty of facing Saudi side Al-Nassr, in the upcoming AFC Champions League Matchday 5 game, which is set to be played on Monday at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Xavi said: “Al Nassr is one of the best teams in the competition. We played them in the quarterfinals last year and also in February this year. But this time, it will be different. They have strengthened the team with new players, and they have an excellent striker – Abderrazak Hamdallah.” ... 

Khoukhi Boualem: We managed to correct the mistakes from the first game

Al-Sadd defender Khoukhi Boualem described the 4-0 victory over Al Ain in the AFC Champions League as a deserved result.

Speaking after the game, Khoukhi said: “This win gave us a great boost for our morale before the next matches.”

“We performed well, and we managed to play a big game. We succeeded in correcting the mistakes from the first match and we got three important points for the team’s campaign.” ...
