The Al-Sadd first team resumed training today, Thursday, in preparation for the game against Al Gharafa in the quarter-finals of the Ooredoo Cup, that will be played next Monday at the Suhaim Bin Hamad Stadium.
The Wolves, who are the defending champions, qualified for the quarterfinals after finishing fourth in Group A, while the Al-Gharafa team came first in the Group B.
Al-Sadd will miss 15 players in the next match, with 11 players away with the Qatar national team, which is playing two friendly matches against Costa Rica and South Korea (Meshaal Barshim, Khoukhi Boualem, Abdelkarim Hassan, Pedro Miguel, Tarek Salman, Musab Khidir, Muhammad Waad, Akram Afif, Hassan Al-Haydos, Ahmed Suhail, and Yusef Abdurisag). This is in addition to the trio of Baghdad Bounedjah, Nam Tae-hee and Jung Woo-young, who also received international call-ups, and Baha Al-Leithi, who was ruled out for two months, after suffering an ankle ligament injury in the match against Al-Khor in the Ooredoo Cup.
The first team coaching staff worked on increasing the fitness levels of the players, who were returning after a day of rest, there was also emphasis placed on training with the ball on defensive and offensive aspects.
