Qatar Cup: Al-Sadd hold main training session to prepare for Al-Rayyan clash

The Al-Sadd first team held its main training session on Tuesday at the club training facility, in preparation for the upcoming game against Al Rayyan in the semifinals of the 2021 Qatar Cup.

Al-Sadd will come into the game having qualified as the third placed team in the 2019-20 season, while Al-Rayyan were runners-up.

During Tuesday’s main training session, the coaching staff worked on choosing their starting line-up options, with all the players fit and ready to compete and gain the coach’s confidence.

Xavi stressed on the correction of mistakes, particularly in the players’ movements, and he intervened during the practice mini-game at several occasions to implement some special moves, both in the offensive and defensive aspects.

The coach was also keen to speak with the players in a team meeting held before the start of the training session, to talk about the importance of the next match against Al-Rayyan, which will be a great test for the Wolves, in their attempt to qualify for the final of the Qatar Cup.

The game against Al-Rayyan match will witness the return of Akram Afif, after he missed the last clash with Al-Ahli in the league due to accumulation of cards, while Hashim Ali continues to be absent from the team due to an muscle injury.

Meanwhile, Xavi and Baghdad Bounedjah are scheduled to address the media at the pre-match press conference, which will be begin at 10:30 AM on Wednesday in the conference hall of Al-Duhail Club.
