QNB Stars League: Al Sadd defeat Al Kharaitiyat 5-0

Al-Sadd registered a 5-0 win over Al-Kharaitiyat in the QNB Stars League Round 12 clash which was played on Saturday at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium.

With this victory, the Wolves increased their tally to 32 points and extended their lead at the top of the table.

Rodrigo Tabata (69’, 78’), Ali Asad (72’) and Baghdad Bounedjah (82’, 89’) scored the goals for Al-Sadd.

The match got off to a quiet start and Al Sadd were unable to make an early impact.

As the first half wore on, Al Sadd grew into the game and managed to create chances. In the 17th minute, Abdelkarim Hassan almost scored the opening goal but his powerful shot flew wide of the left post. Guilherme then had a go from outside the box in the 24th minute, only to see the shot kept out by Al-Kharaitiyat goalkeeper Shihab Al-Laithi.

Nam Tae-hee was the next to get an opportunity to score, trying a shot in the 35th minute, but the ball hit defender Muhammad Salam and then the crossbar, before going out for a corner kick. This was followed by Baghdad Bounedjah’s attempt shot in four, which went over the bar.

The referee then brought the first half to an end, with the score staying 0-0.

Ali Asad replaced Yousuf Abdurisag at the start of the second half, as Xavi attempted to freshen up the attack. The Wolves continued to put pressure on Al Kharaitiyat, but still found it difficult to score.

It took a second substitution from Al Sadd to finally turn things around. Rodrigo Tabata came on in the 65th minute and four minutes later, finished off a cross from Al Haydos to put his side ahead.

Fellow substitute Ali Asad then netted Al Sadd’s second in the 72nd minute. Bounedjah dribbled into the box from the left and squared the ball for the unmarked Ali to score past Al Laithi.

In the 78th minute, Tabata returned to score his second of the game and Al-Sadd’s third, picking a pass from Ali before completing the move with a calm finish.

Finally, Bounedjah scored a late brace to conclude the scoring. In the 82nd minute, the Algerian international got past the keeper and made no mistake from a tight angle. Then, in the 89th minute, he chested down an aerial pass from Abdelkarim Hassan before scoring with a low finish past Al Laithi.

The referee then went on to blow the final whistle, signalling a 5-0 win for Al-Sadd.
