Al-Sadd defender Romain Saïss has successfully undergone surgery at Aspetar following an ankle injury.

The Moroccan international is set to begin his recovery process in the coming days under the supervision of the club’s medical staff.

Al-Sadd head coach Felix Sanchez confirmed that his team is fully prepared to face Al-Gharafa in Matchweek 17 of the Ooredoo Stars League. The match is set to take place on Thursday evening at Thani Bin Jassim Stadium.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, the Spanish coach said: “We have another very important match on Thursday against Al-Gharafa. At this stage of the league, we need to secure points in every game if we want to close the gap and put pressure on Al-Duhail.” ... 

Al-Sadd Club has announced that Moroccan defender Romain Saïss sustained an ankle injury during first-team training.

Initial medical tests confirmed that Saïss has suffered ligament damage in his ankle. His return will depend on his recovery progress.

Al-Sadd player Moustafa Tarek expressed his joy after his team’s crucial 2-0 win over Al-Duhail in Matchweek 16 of the Ooredoo Stars League.

Al-Sadd secured a 2-0 victory over Al-Duhail in Matchweek 16 of the Ooredoo Stars League 2024-2025. The match, played at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium on Saturday, February 22, 2025, saw Al-Sadd close the gap with Al-Duhail in the standings to just one point, after increasing their tally to 34.

Moustafa Tarek opened the scoring in the 74th minute, while Rafa Mujica sealed the win with a goal in stoppage time (90+5). The match also saw Al-Duhail’s Ibrahim Babma sent off in the 53rd minute. ...

Al Sadd suffered a 2-1 defeat to Uzbekistan’s Pakhtakor in the eighth and final game of the AFC Champions League Elite group stage (West), on Monday, February 17, 2025 at JAR Stadium in Tashkent.

After this result, Al-Sadd ended the group stage with a tally of 12 points.

Brayan Riascos had put Pakhtakor ahead in the 18th minute, before Hassan Al Haydos scored Al Sadd’s equalizer from a penalty kick in the 37th minute. Riascos then added the second goal for Pakhtakor in the 57th minute.

Felix Sanchez, Al Sadd’s head coach, emphasized the importance of the upcoming clash against Pakhtakor in Matchday 8 of the AFC Champions League Elite for the 2024-2025 season.
