The Al-Sadd first team delegation arrived in Dammam, Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, April 6, ahead of their participation in the 2022 AFC Champions League group stage.

The team will play in Group E, alongside Al-Faisaly (Saudi Arabia), Al-Wehdat (Jordan), and Nasaf (Uzbekistan).

The coaching staff, led by head coach Javi Gracia, chose 24 players to participate in the group stage, and the squad is as follows: Saad Al-Dosari, Mishaal Barshim, Yousef Al-Balushi, Karim Mohammed, Musaab Khidir, Abdelkarim Hassan, Pedro Miguel, Tarek Salman, Khoukhi Boualem, Ali Asad, Ahmed Sayar, Guilherme Torres, Jung Woo-young, Santi Cazorla, Akram Afif, Yousuf Abdurisag, Andre Ayew, Baghdad Bounedjah, Faisal Azadi, Abdullah Al-Yazidi, Hassan Al-Haydos, Rodrigo Tabata, Muhammad Waad, Salem Al-Hajri. ... 

Before the start of the final training session in Doha for the first team on Tuesday, in preparation for travelling to the city of Dammam in order to participate in the 2022 AFC Champions League, the Al-Sadd squad held a ceremony in honour of the first-team staff member Yaris Miah, who is leaving the club after 32 years of service. ...

The Al-Sadd football first team resumed training on Thursday, after a four-day break.

The Wolves are preparing to participate in the 2022 AFC Champions League, where the team will play in Group E alongside Al-Faisaly of Saudi Arabia, Nasaf of Uzbekistan and Al Wehdat of Jordan.

The competition is scheduled to start on the eighth of April, with all the Group E matches being held in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. ... 

Al-Sadd coach Javi Gracia expressed his dissatisfaction after his side’s loss to Al-Duhail in the Amir Cup semi-finals.

Speaking during the press conference after the match, Gracia said: “In the beginning, I would like to congratulate Al Duhail on the victory.”

He added: “We tried to do our best and we had many chances, but after the red card to Pedro, we tried to attack and conceded another goal. We fought until the last minute and tried a lot, and we showed a strong character, but it was not enough to achieve the result we hoped for.” ... 

Al-Sadd exited the Amir Cup 2022 tournament after losing 3-2 to Al-Duhail, in the semifinal clash that was played on Monday, at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium.

Al-Duhail’s Ferjani Sassi opened the scoring in the 7th minute, and although Andre Ayew equalised for Al-Sadd in the 33rd minute, Al-Duhail went ahead again through Michael Olunga in the 44th minute. Sassi scored his second of the night to make it 3-1 in the 80th minute. ... 

Al-Sadd’s Spanish midfielder Santi Cazorla confirmed that his side is ready to face Al Duhail in the semi-finals of the Emir Cup, that will be played on Monday evening at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium.

Speaking during the pre-match press conference, Santi said: “Despite the short period of preparation before the game against Al Duhail in the Amir Cup, our team is fully prepared, and our goal is to qualify for the final.” ...
