Ali Asad and Salem Al Hajri return from injury

The Al-Sadd duo of Salem Al Hajri and Ali Asad participated in the first team training session on Thursday, after they recovered from the injury that kept them away from the team over the past 8 months.

Salem Al-Hajri suffered a Achilles tear during the game against Al Kharaitiyat in the Amir Cup Round of 16, while Ali Asad suffered the same injury during the final training session in Riyadh in preparation for the game against Al-Nassr, in the second round of the 2020 AFC Champions League. ... 

Bahaa El Laithi ruled out of action for 6-8 weeks

Al-Sadd defender Bahaa El-Laithi has been ruled out of action after suffering an injury to his left ankle ligament, during the match against Al-Khor in the fourth round of the Ooredoo Cup.

Bahaa had a CT scan after the match, which showed a tear in the left ankle ligament, which will take from 6 to 8 weeks to recover. ... 

Ooredoo Cup: Al-Sadd defeat Al-Khor 1-0

Al-Sadd got their first victory in the 2020-21 Ooredoo Cup, defeating Al-Khor in the Group A fourth round clash which was played at the Suhaim bin Hamad Stadium.

With this victory, Al-Sadd increased their points tally to 4 from 3 games, after a win, a draw and a defeat. The postponed match against Al-Duhail will be played next Saturday. ... 

Xavi and Cazorla named as the best for September-October

Al-Sadd head coach Xavi Hernandez was presented with the QSL’s Best Coach award for the months of September and October, after an impressive record since the start of the current season.

2020-21 Ooredoo Cup: Al-Sadd set to face Al-Khor in Round 4

The Al-Sadd first team is all set to face Al-Khor in their 2020-21 Ooredoo Cup group stage clash on Wednesday. The Group A fixture in Round 4 of the competition will be played at the Suhaim bin Hamad Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 7:30 PM.

The other teams in Group A are Al-Duhail, Al-Sailiya, Al-Wakrah and Qatar SC. Al-Sadd had lost their first game 3-2 to Qatar SC, before drawing 4-4 with Al-Sailiya. The game against Al-Duhail was postponed and is set to be played on November 7. ... 

Qatargas U-23 League: Al-Sadd defeat Al-Ahli 6-2

The Al-Sadd U-23 team registered a 6-2 victory over Al-Ahli in the Qatargas U-23 League Round 3 clash, which was played at Al Shamal Stadium on Sunday evening.

This result saw Al-Sadd increase their points tally to 6, after two wins and a defeat.

Rami Suhail (29′), Mohammed Naceur (35′, 45′), Abdullah Badr Al Yazidi (48′), Saoud Al-Nasr (49′) and Hassan Ahmed (83′) scored Al-Sadd’s goals. ... 

Mohammed Gholam: We displayed a great footballing symphony

Al-Sadd sporting director Mohammed Gholam al-Baloushi described Al-Sadd’s 4-1 win over Al-Duhail in the Amir Cup semifinal as a deserved result that came after a “wonderful footballing symphony.”

In his statement to the club’s website after the game, Mohammed Gholam said: “Praise be to God for this victory, which came at the right time for Al-Sadd, and in which the team put up a great effort. The coaching staff maintained the same way of playing despite trailing by a goal, and the players put on a wonderful footballing symphony over the two halves, which helped to achieve this victory.” ... 

Abdelkarim Hassan: Al-Sadd had the superiority, we managed to respond strongly in the second half

Al-Sadd left-back Abdelkarim Hassan praised his side’s performance in the 4-1 win over Al-Duhail, in the semifinals of the Amir Cup.

Speaking after the game, Abdelkarim said: “We conceded an early goal in the match, but despite that, we remained steady and were able to respond strongly in the second half. We scored four goals to get a deserved victory after the excellent display in the match, and the second half in particular.” ...

Al-Sadd head coach Xavi Hernandez congratulated his players, after the big 4-1 win over Al-Duhail in the semi-final of the 2020 Amir Cup.

Spekaing at the press conference after the match, Xavi said: “We feel very happy after this deserved victory. We were better than Al-Duhail from the beginning of the match; we conceded an early goal, but we maintained our way of playing and we continued in the same manner. When we scored the equalizer, the situation changed and we got a four-goal win.” ...
