Al-Sadd defeat Al-Rayyan to lift Amir Cup

Al-Sadd opened their 2021-22 QNB Stars League campaign with a 2-0 win over Al-Sailiya in the Round 1 game which was played at Thani bin Jassim Stadium on Sunday.

Goals from Khoukhi Boualem and Rodrigo Tabata in the first half delivered the three points for the Wolves. The result means Al-Sadd are third in the league table after the end of the first round, tied on points with Al-Duhail and Al-Gharafa, but behind on goal difference. ... 

Hassan Al-Haydos: We respect Al-Rayyan, finals are settled by small details

Al-Sadd captain Hassan Al Haydos stressed his team’s readiness and desire to win, ahead of the 2021 Amir Cup final clash with Al-Rayyan.

In his statements during the pre-match press conference, Al-Haydos said: “It will be an excellent atmosphere during the match, playing in a new stadium, in the final of a prestigious tournament. Finals are always settled by small details, and therefore we have to give our best in order to win.” ... 

Xavi: Happy with the win over Al-Gharafa, the Amir Cup final will be different

Al Sadd coach Xavi Hernandez stressed the importance of his side’s 6-4 victory over Al Gharafa in the QNB Stars League Round 6 game played on Sunday.

In his statement after the match, Xavi said: “I am very happy with the victory and the three points. This result came in an important match and against an excellent team like Al-Gharafa. It was one of the best matches in the league, according to my opinion.” ... 

Baghdad Bounedjah: We got an important victory, fatigue affected our performance

Al-Sadd striker Baghdad Bounedjah expressed his happiness after the team’s 6-4 victory over Al-Gharafa in Round 6 of the QNB Stars League.

Baghdad said in his statement after the match: “We achieved an important victory over a good team. Al-Gharafa always plays strongly against us. The fatigue of international players had an impact on the performance, but we thank God for the win and the three points.” ... 

QNB Stars League: Al-Sadd overcome Al-Gharafa 6-4

Al-Sadd maintained their perfect record in the QNB Stars League with yet another victory, after overcoming Al-Gharafa 6-4 in a thrilling Round 6 game which was played at Thani bin Jassim Stadium on Sunday evening.

Baghdad Bounedjah (7′, 52′), Hassan Al-Haydos (14′, 40′), Saifeldeen Fadlallah (17′ OG) and Andre Ayew (89′) scored the goals for Al-Sadd, while Cheikh Diabate (21′, 45′), Saifeldeen Fadlallah (29′) and Ahmed Alaa (57′) netted for Al-Gharafa. The result saw the Wolves increase their points tally to 18, after 6 wins from 6 games. ... 

Al-Sadd hold main training session ahead of Al-Gharafa clash

The Al Sadd first team held its main training session on Friday, in preparation for facing Al Gharafa in Round 6 of the QNB Stars League.

Al-Sadd go into the game with great enthusiasm after the exciting 4-0 victory over Al-Arabi in the fifth round, which extended their lead at the top of the league with a tally of 15 points, after five wins out of five matches. Al-Gharafa, meanwhile, occupy third place with 9 points. ... 

Guilherme: We are preparing well for the game against Al-Gharafa, our aim is to get all three points

Al-Sadd midifielder Guilherme Torres emphasised the importance of his side’s upcoming game against Al-Gharafa and spoke of the need to get all three points.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Guilherme said: “We know that it will be a great game against a big rival team that’s competing with us. It will be a very difficult game but we are training hard and we are preparing ourselves. Our teammates are joining us now and they can help us.” ... 

Xavi: Facing Al-Gharafa will be difficult, it’s very important to get these three points

Al-Sadd head coach Xavi Hernandez spoke of the difficulty of the upcoming QNB Stars League Round 6 game against Al-Gharafa, while expressing his relief at the return of Santi Cazorla after his injury.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Xavi said: “In the next game we will play against Al-Gharafa, a big team and one of the best in the league. This means that getting three points will be really complicated. They are playing well and they are in a high position in the table.” ...
