Al-Sadd add 72nd trophy to their collection

The Al-Sadd football team added yet another title to its collection, after winning the 2019-20 Ooredoo Cup, bringing its trophy tally to 72 in all competitions.

This is the second time in Al-Sadd’s history that the club has won this title, after previously triumphing in the 2010-11 season, under the tournament’s old name, the Qatar Stars Cup. ... 

Meshaal Barsham: Congratulations to our fans, we hope this is the start of better things

Al-Sadd goalkeeper Meshaal Barsham congratulated the players and fans of the club after they won the 2019-20 Ooredoo Cup title with a 4-0 victory over Al-Arabi in the final.

Speaking after the match, Meshaal said: “I congratulate the players and the fans for this victory, as the triumph came after a great effort on the part of all the players. We were successful in the match and we were able to do what was required.” ... 

Al-Sadd win 2019-20 Ooredoo Cup after 4-0 win over Al-Arabi

Al-Sadd were crowned as the 2019-20 Ooredoo Cup champions, after defeating Al-Arabi 4-0 in the final which was played at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium on Saturday evening.

Yousuf Abdurisag put the Wolves ahead in the 17th minute. Nam Tae-hee made it 2-0 in the 53rd minute, before Santi Cazorla struck Al-Sadd’s third in the 77th. Rodrgio Tabata then wrapped it up with the final goal in stoppage time. ... 

Al-Sadd conclude preparations for Ooredoo Cup final against Al-Arabi

Al-Sadd wrapped up preparations for the 2019-20 Ooredoo Cup final against Al-Arabi, with their final training session on Friday evening. The match is set to be played on Saturday, October 10, at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium.

The Wolves finished third in the Group A with 7 points (Al-Sadd 1-5 Al-Wakra, Al-Sadd 3-1 Al-Shahaniya, Al-Ahli 4-3 Al-Sadd, Al-Sadd 2-2 Umm Salal, Al-Rayyan 0-6 Al-Sadd) to qualify for the quarterfinals, where they defeated Qatar SC on penalties, before overcoming Al-Ahli 2-0 in the semifinals. ... 

Tabata: I have won many titles, and I want to add this trophy to my list

Al-Sadd’s Rodrigo Tabata stressed on the importance of his side’s next match against Al Arabi in the final of the 2019-20 Ooredoo Cup.

“As the coach said, it is an opportunity for the young players to play and to be with the team in a big event,” Tabata said during the pre-match press conference. “It is a final match for us and as players, we hope to win.” ... 

Xavi: It will be a great match against Al-Arabi in the final, it’s a chance to win

Al Sadd head coach Xavi Hernandez confirmed his team’s readiness ahead of the upcoming game against Al Arabi in the final of the 2019-20 Ooredoo Cup.

Speaking during the pre-match press conference, Xavi said: “We are happy to play in the final, and I wasn’t expecting to play this game. We have a strong team, but we will only play with young players as we are missing 11 international players. Matches like these are opportunites for young players and I asked them to take advantage of this.” ... 

Ooredoo Cup: Al-Sadd lose 3-2 to Qatar SC

Al-Sadd lost 3-2 to Qatar SC in the Round 2 game of the 2020-21 Ooredoo Cup group stage, which was played at the Suhaim bin Hamad Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The result means that Al-Sadd have no points so far, with their Round 1 game against Al-Duhail postponed.

Rami Suhail gave Al-Sadd the lead in the 26th minute, after receiving a pass from Rodrigo Tabata and finishing past Jassim Al-Hail in the Qatar SC goal. Two minutes later, the Wolves scored again; Saoud Al-Nasr met Yousuf Abdurisag’s cross with a first-time shot that went in to make it 2-0. ... 

Al-Sadd resume training without Qatari internationals

The Al Sadd first team resumed training on Friday evening, after four days of rest that followed the end of the 2020 AFC Champions League campaign.

The team is now preparing to play their first game of the 2020-21 Ooredoo Cup, against Qatar SC, on Tuesday, October 6. The group stage draw had placed Al-Sadd alongside Duhail, Al Sailiya, Al Khor, Al Wakrah and Qatar in Group A. ...
