AFC Champions League: Al-Sadd begin preparations for Al-Wehdat clash

The Al-Sadd first team began preparations for the upcoming Matchday 3 game against Jordan’s Al-Wehdat in Group D of the AFC Champions League 2021. The game is set to be played on Tuesday at the King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh.

The Wolves had earlier lost 3-1 to Al-Nassr on Matchday 2.

The first team squad underwent pre-match Covid-19 tests on Sunday afternoon, at the club’s residence at the Burj Rafal. ... 

Xavi: The result is unfair, we lost because of our mistakes

Al-Sadd head coach Xavi Hernandez expressed his disappointment after his side’s 3-1 defeat to Al-Nassr in the AFC Champions League Group D match, which was played in Riyadh on Saturday.

In his statement after the match, Xavi said: “I think the result is unfair. We deserve more than this result and at least a draw, considering the performance shown by the players and the many opportunities we missed, and I will not comment on the referee’s decision and the incorrect penalty kick.” ... 

AFC Champions League: Al-Sadd lose to Al-Nassr

Al-Sadd fell to a 3-1 defeat to Al-Nassr on Matchday 2 of the AFC Champions League 2021, in the Group D game which was played on Saturday at the King Saud University Stadium in Riyadh.

Abderrazak Hamdallah gave Al-Nassr the lead with a penalty in the 37th minute, before Santi Cazorla equalised in the 59th minute. Abdulmajeed Al Sulayhim then scored Al-Nassr’s second goal in the 78th minute, while Khaled Al Ghannam netted their third in stoppage time. ... 

AFC Champions League: Al-Sadd concludes preparations for Al-Nassr clash

The Al-Sadd first team concluded their preparations for the upcoming game against Al-Nassr in Group D of the AFC Champions League with a final training session on Friday. The Matchday 2 fixture is set to kick off at 9 PM on Saturday at the King Saud University Stadium (Mrsool Park).

Al-Sadd come into the game with one point, after a 1-1 draw with Iranian side Foolad Khouzestan on Matchday 1, while Al-Nassr also have a point following the 0-0 draw with the Jordan’s Al-Wehdat. ... 

Nam: We will face one of the best teams in the group, our goal is to win

Al-Sadd midfielder Nam Tae-hee said that his side is ready for the upcoming AFC Champions League game against Al-Nassr, and that they will be looking for a win.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Nam said: “We will face one of the best teams in the group, and our goal is to get the three points. We are preparing well for the match and all our focus will be on playing hard in order to win.” ... 

Xavi: I know Al-Nassr very well, it will not be an easy game

Al-Sadd head coach Xavi Hernandez addressed the media ahead of the upcoming match against Al-Nassr on Matchday Two of the AFC Champions League 2021 group stage.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, he said: “I know Al-Nassr very well, it is an excellent team and they compete strongly. Yes, the coach has changed, but it is a strong team in a difficult group. Our goal of the match is to win and collect three points in order to qualify from the group.” ... 

Khoukhi: It’s better to draw than lose, we will work on correcting our mistakes against Al-Nassr

Al-Sadd defender Khoukhi Boualem said his side put up a good performance against Foolad in the AFC Champions League 2021 opening group game, despite dropping two points in the 1-1 draw.

Speaking after the game, Khoukhi said: “It’s better to draw than to lose. We played well and controlled the game against a team that defended strongly. We tried and got many chances but fortune didn’t favour us in front of goal.” ... 

Xavi: Unhappy with result, we must improve in the next game

Al Sadd coach Xavi Hernandez expressed his dissatisfaction after his side’s 1-1 draw with Iranian side Foolad Khouzestan, in their first round clash in Group D of the 2021 AFC Champions League.

Speaking during the post-match press conference, Xavi said: “I am unhappy with the result we got. Our goal was to win. We played against a difficult and effective team, and we competed strongly.” ... 

AFC Champions League: Al-Sadd draw 1-1 with Foolad in opener

Al-Sadd had to settle for a point in their opening game of the AFC Champions League 2021, after drawing 1-1 with Iranian side Foolad in their Group D fixture that was played at the King Fahd International Stadium on Wednesday. Chimba scored for Foolad in the 61st minute, and Khoukhi Boualem struck the equaliser in the 89th minute. ...
