His Excellency Hassan bin Hamza Hashim, Qatar’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan, visited Al Sadd’s delegation on Sunday morning at the team’s hotel (Hyatt Regency) ahead of their AFC Champions League Elite Matchday 8 fixture against Pakhtakor on Monday.

Al-Sadd midfielder Moustafa Tarek expressed his happiness with the team’s 1-0 victory over Umm Salal in Matchweek 15 of the Ooredoo Stars League.

In his post-match comments, Mostafa said: “We are happy with this win and securing three points to stay in the title race. The players delivered a strong performance, and we could have scored more goals if not for some missed chances in front of goal.” ...

“We knew it would be a very tough match against a strong team with quality players. We started well and scored early but couldn’t maintain our lead. We conceded avoidable goals, and everyone shares responsibility. We tried to come back but couldn’t, while Al Ahli capitalized on their chances,” Sánchez said in the post-match press conference. ... 

Al Sadd endured its first loss in the 2024-25 AFC Champions League Elite, falling 3-1 to Saudi Arabia’s Al Ahli in Matchday 7 of the West Region group stage on Monday, 3 February, at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium.

The result means that Al Sadd remained on 12 points in the standings.
